I’ve got beef in my Mason Jar Salad!

I was thinking, I love chicken and as you can see, I use it in most of my salads.  But I also love beef.  So I did some research to see how I could fit some Steak into my jars.  Normally you lay warm medium rare steak over crisp greens and drizzle with your favourite dressing.  I improvised!

This week I make a Mason Jar Steak Salad with Zesty Avocado Cilantro Buttermilk Dressing.  After looking through many websites for steak salad ideas that would fit into my mason jars, I found a dressing that sounded like it would be a good compliment to beef, Zesty Avocado Cilantro Buttermilk Dressing by Skinny Taste.  I’ve tried many of Gina’s recipes and they all turn out great.  I followed the recipe to a T.  Yup.  I know, strange, everyone that knows me can say that I always change the recipe.  Not because I think I can make it better (well, maybe a bit), for example, if the recipe doesn’t call for Garlic … and I think it should, then I add it.  I think most recipes, except sweet ones, should have garlic.  But this dressing just sounded so yummy (and it already had garlic).

Next, after looking at what went well in a plated salad I concocted this:

Steak Salad with Zesty Avocado Cilantro Buttermilk Dressing (6)
Zesty Avocado Cilantro Buttermilk Dressing – 2 tbsp. (2)
Sweet peppers (loosely chopped) – 1/4 cup
Red Onions (diced) – 1 tbsp
Mango (chopped) – 1/4 cup
Avocado (peeled, chopped) – 1/4 (1)
Steak (sliced thin) – 1/3 cup (2)
Blue cheese (crumbled) – 1 tsp (1)
Greens (spring mix) – 1.5 cups

I had this salad yesterday and it was AMAZING!  My son isn’t a fan of Blue Cheese so I held off, but it turns out he also isn’t a fan of Cilantro, so that means more cheese next time!
